Toasting Sotheby’s New Wine Collection

Toasting Sotheby’s New Wine Collection

Sotheby’s Wine experts have teamed up with their favourite producers for an exciting new range of wines.
Sotheby’s Wine experts have teamed up with their favourite producers for an exciting new range of wines.

W ines with integrity – that’s the philosophy at the heart of the new Sotheby’s Own Label Collection. Sotheby’s specialists have sought to celebrate the truest expressions of some of the world’s most famed appellations, creating a go-to range that is sure to – as Jamie Ritchie, Chairman of Sotheby’s Wine puts it – “give a lot of pleasure”. “They are made for buying by the case and for always being on hand to be served, whoever stops by,” he adds.

It’s a collection characterised by attention to detail – from the carefully chosen, respected producers with whom Sotheby’s has long-standing relationships, to the label designs and “lot numbers” that both reference Sotheby’s heritage as an auction house and unique aspects of the winemakers’ own stories.

With 13 to choose from (and more on the way), available as a mixed case, half case or full case, and including sparkling wines, reds, whites and one rosé, there’s a bottle for every occasion. Now available at sothebyswine.com or in the Sotheby’s Wine shop on York Avenue, New York. All orders over $75 ship for free.

  • 2018 Sotheby's Prosecco Valdobbiadene Superiore Brut, $16.95

    Producer: Mongarda

Our Brut Prosecco is drier than most styles, which makes it clean, crisp and refreshing. It is produced by the Mongarda family, who makes wines from old vines in one of the most prized regions of the Veneto. The family focuses on growing healthy, quality grapes so that they can take a more non-interventionist approach in the cellar and let the vintage and vineyards speak through the wine. The reason we chose it is simple: it outclassed all other proseccos and is the best we have tasted.

  • 2016 Sotheby's Bourgogne Blanc, $36.95

This is a classic white Burgundy that balances richness with minerality. It is produced by the Clair family, a small family property we have been visiting for years which has an established track record of producing classic, enjoyable, terroir-driven wines. This Bourgogne Blanc delivers far more complexity and depth than you find in standard Bourgogne Blanc because it is actually made from Jean-Baptiste Clair’s 1er Cru Frionnes vineyard in St. Aubin. It is perfect as an aperitif or with seafood, fish or chicken.
